Honorable Mention

  • Patrolman Robert Macko is recognized for his outstanding efforts on February 8, 2000, when he was the first on the scene in responding to a call of an attempted suicide in progress. Upon arrival to the scene, Officer Macko was able to subdue the subject and hold her in place while Officer Feldmann rendered first aid. The subject was transported to Lake Shore Hospital. Officer Macko is commended for his actions without further injury to the subject or to others.


  • The Police Department sadly mourns the loss of retired police lieutenant Arthur Elvin. Art joined the Evans Police force as a patrolman in 1957 and was promoted to Lieutenant in 1967. Art retired at the rank of lieutenant in 1975 and resided recently in Gowanda, NY.

  • Michael Connors of Angola has been appointed part-time police dispatcher and began his on-the-job training on February 21, 2000.


    Evans Police Dispatchers took 1,123 complaints for the month of February 2000.

    Patrol Division

    The Evans Police Patrol Division handled complaints including:

    Accidents 43

    Harassment 29
    Larcenies 20
    Premise Checks 10
    Welfare Checks 9

  • Seventeen prisoners were held in the Town of Evans Police Lockup in February 2000.

  • Seventy-seven Police Reports were filed and thirteen accidents were reported to the State of New York as reportable accidents under the Vehicle and Traffic Law.

  • Evans Police Officers issued 155 simplified traffic informations in February of 2000 including:

    Speeding 64
    Seatbelt 6
    DWI Related 17
    License/Permit Violations 11
    Red Lights 3
    Required MV Equipment 9
    Vehicle Registration Violations 2
    Stop Sign 6
    Other 37

    Detective Bureau

  • Town of Evans Police Detectives arrested Michael D. Lovallo of Lackawanna on February 8, 2000 at his residence in Lackawanna. Lovallo was charged with robbery 2nd for an incident that occurred at Ames Department Store on January 14, 2000, when it was alleged that Lovallo injured a security officer while fleeing the scene of a larceny. Lovallo was also wanted by West Seneca and East Aurora Police Departments.

  • Thirty-six people were arrested, mostly for violations of the New York State Penal Law, Alcohol Beverage Control Law and Vehicle and Traffic Law. Ten people were arrested for DWI.

    Dog Control

    Eight appearance tickets were issued from the Dog Control Office.
