  • Thirteen prisoners were held in the Town of Evans Police Lockup in June 2002.

  • Ninety-six Police Reports were filed and thirty-four accidents were reported to the State of New York as reportable accidents under the Vehicle and Traffic Law.

  • Evans Police Officers issued 251 simplified traffic informations in June of 2002 including:

    Speeding 98
    Seatbelt 47
    DWI Related 4
    License/Permit Violations 12
    Red Lights 4
    Required MV Equipment 12
    Vehicle Registration Violations 5
    Stop Sign 3

    Detective Bureau

  • The Detective Bureau investigated a two-vehicle collision at Route 5 and Delamater Road on the morning of June 26th. An 84-year-old male Derby resident was killed as a result of this collision.

  • On June 26th the Detective Bureau was called to a serious physical injury auto accident involving a motorcycle and a tractor trailer on Route 20 between Cain and Brant-Angola Roads. A 44-year-old male from Angola was seriously injured. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

  • Six residential home burglaries and one business burglary were investigated by the Detective Bureau in June. One of the home burglaries was ruled a hoax and closed, the others are still being actively investigated.

  • Two major sex crimes were investigated by the Detective Bureau in June. A sodomy first degree and sexual abuse first degree involving a 3-year-old female is still being actively investigated. This incident allegedly occurred in April 2001. Child Protection Services and the Child Advocacy Center are assisting in this investigation. A suspect has been identified and has since moved from New York State.
  • A sexual misconduct case was investigated. After an investigation that also involved the Erie County District Attorney's Office, the case was administratively closed.

  • Twenty-three people were arrested, mostly for violations of the New York State Penal Law, Alcohol Beverage Control Law and Vehicle and Traffic Law. Three people were arrested for DWI.

    Dog Control

    Twenty-six appearance tickets were issued from the Dog Control Office.
