Monthly Report - September 1998

Officer of the Month

Patrolman David Burke is Officer of the Month for October 1998 for his quick action and diligence in apprehending two burglary suspects on September 29, 1998, on Lake Shore Road near Sturgeon Point Road.

The two suspects had just broken into a home on Beechwood Road and removed several items from the residence after being surprised by the arrival of the homeowner, the two fled the scene. Acting on a description of the suspect's vehicle, Officer Burke stopped a vehicle matching that description less than a mile from the crime scene. Two subjects were taken into custody and charged.

Officer Burke, knowing that the area of Sturgeon Point Road and Lake Shore Road had been targeted by daytime burglaries for the past three weeks, had concentrated his patrol efforts in this area which led to this quick apprehension. It is believed that the two subjects arrested may be responsible for three other daytime house burglaries.
