Citizen Police Academy

The Town of Evans Police Department Citizen Police Academy was established in 2010 and is a community-oriented program designed as a way for the public to learn about Police Department operations and the duties of Evans Police Department personnel; and as a means of strengthening the relationship between police officers and the citizens we protect and serve.

Citizen Academy classes meet each week in the evening hours and classes are approximately three hours long. Academy sessions are usually ten weeks in duration and some of the topics covered include patrol functions, detective bureau operations, crime scene investigation, accident investigation, domestic violence, court procedures, police and fire dispatch operations, sex offenders, and marine unit operations. Presentations are made by various members of the Police Department.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have never been arrested, be of good moral character, and pass a background investigation. Applications are available several weeks in advance of each session, and may be picked up in person at the Town of Evans Police Station, 8787 Erie Rd., Angola, NY 14006. Class sizes are limited and preference is given to Town of Evans and Village of Angola residents and business owners.

Applications are available here. For more information, Contact the Police Department.
