Monthly Report – October 2011

In the month of October the Evans Police Department went through a reassessment from the Department of Criminal Justice. The program assesses whether the police department met the 140+ standards set by New York State. For three days, October 18th, 19th and 20th, a three member assessment team was on site. They went over all records and interviewed employees of the police department. When the team completed their assessment, they stated that they “would recommend the Evans Police Department for re-accreditation.”

There are 553 eligible law enforcement agencies in New York State. Of those, there are only 215 police departments in New York State that are accredited. In Erie County there are only six including the Evans Police Department. We are in a very elite group.

Letters of commendation for their efforts during the accreditation process in the month of October:

Lieutenant Thomas George Jr.
Lieutenant Michael E. Masullo
